In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, Yinson partnered with Persatuan Bantuan Kesihatan Mental (Nyawa) to deliver an impactful mental health workshop to Yinson KL employees on October 23, 2024. The workshop also marked the official launch of Nyawa’s mental wellness toolkit designed specifically for the indigenous communities (Orang Asli).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Nyawa, a distinguished youth-led non-governmental organisation (NGO) and a recipient of the Yinson4Youth (Y4Y) grant in 2024, developed the toolkit to promote mental well-being by addressing the unique needs and challenges the community faces. In the process of developing the toolkit, Nyawa visited numerous Orang Asli villages and initiated conversations about mental health, enhancing the community\u2019s awareness and understanding of its importance.\u00a0<\/p>

During the mental health workshop, employees gained valuable insights into the mental health landscape of the Orang Asli community while also engaging with the toolkit. The toolkit offers interactive mindfulness and self-care exercises, reflections, and ideas, encouraging employees to reflect on their emotions and feelings as a means of taking care of their mental health.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cAt Yinson, we believe that mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being. This workshop and the launch of Nyawa’s mental wellness toolkit are significant steps towards fostering a supportive environment for mental health, not just within our Company but also in the broader community,\u201d said Dr Renard Siew, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Yinson.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, aims to spotlight mental health around the world, raising awareness on mental health issues, and encourage efforts to support those experiencing them. This year, the World Health Organization (WHO) set the theme as \u201cMental Health at Work\u201d, highlighting the vital connection between mental health and work. The theme emphasises that safe, healthy working environments can act as protective factors for mental health, calling for urgent action to ensure that work environments prevent risks to mental health and support mental well-being of employees.\u00a0<\/p>

This collaboration exemplifies Yinson\u2019s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), especially UN SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being.\u00a0<\/p>

In line with this commitment, Yinson will also be launching the next cycle of the Y4Y grant in November 2024, continuing our support for innovative projects that champion social and environmental causes in Malaysia.
